The public consultation period runs from Thursday, 23 April 2026 to Monday, 18 May 2026
The City of Port Lincoln reviewed its Community Engagement Policy 2.63.1 and invited the community to have their say.
The Draft Community Engagement Policy 2.63.1 was open for public comment from Thursday, 23 April 2026 to 10.00am on Monday, 18 May 2026.
The Community Engagement Policy sets out how Council informs, consults and engages with the community on decisions, activities and processes that affect our city. The review followed local government reforms and the introduction of the Community Engagement Charter under the Local Government Act 1999, which outlines how council's must engage with their communities and ensure people have clear, timely and meaningful opportunities to participate.
As part of the review, Council sought to better understand how people currently engage with Council and how engagement and communication can be improved.
Community feedback was invited on:
- how you currently receive information from Council;
- how you prefer to provide feedback; and
- the best ways for Council to support community participation in decision-making.
Feedback could be provided by completing a simple survey or by making a written submission.
Feedback received during the public consultation period will help inform whether further refinements to the Policy are required. Council wants to understand the best ways to share information and provide opportunities for people to have their say when consulting on matters. Any proposed changes will be considered by Council before the Policy is finalised and adopted.
The Draft Community Engagement Policy 2.63.1 is available in the Key Documents section on the right.
The Survey closed at 10.00am on Monday, 18 May 2026.
Hardcopies of the Draft Community Engagement Policy and survey were also available during normal business hours at the Council Office and Port Lincoln Library.
